Port Districts Gaelic Football Club

The Port District Football club was formed in 1979 after an amalgamation of both the Semaphore Central & Exeter Football Clubs.
These two clubs were 2 of the oldest and most successful ones in metropolitan football and both played out of Largs Reserve – the current home base of Port District.
Since entering the South Australian Amatuer Football League (SAAFL) in Division 2, the Port District Football Club over the 32 years has never been lower than A3.

At the start of the 2010/11 Gaelic season the players from Port District decided in order to keep fit in the Aussie Rules Off Season that they would enter a team into the Gaelic Football Competition. With experience from only a few, the group of 4 players have instilled their knowledge to the rest of the team. Since then the guys have adapted and picked up the game very well, and are looking for success very early in their history. We believe we can, and will be a force in the very near future.

During the 2010/11 season the Port District Gaelic Football Club began a rivalry with another competing club, Irish Australians. This rivalry is in honour of the Great Shane O'Donnell, whom has been a big part in the setting up of both of our clubs. Including playing games for both sides it is an honour and a pleasure to have him in the Port District squad.
This is why both clubs have agreed that whenever they play each other that the Shane O'Donnell Perpetual Trophey will be handed to the winner of that occasion.

The Shirts worn by the team have been modelled on the 2010 'Heratige Day' Guernsey worn by the SAAFL Div1 A-Grade side. The design represents the heratige from the old Black and Yellow from Exeter FC, also the Black and White of Semaphore Central FC and combines the two into one very powerul and traditional style playing strip.

The team trains at Largs Reserve (Port District Football Club). Whilst it Feeds, Drinks and Responsibly Gambles at The Prince Of Wales Hotel.
